Originally designed by Angels Neverland for a special customer project inspired by our recent From the Cutting Table blog series, this cheerful quilt combines juicy watermelon prints, bright lemonade yellows, and rich garden greens into a bold summer statement piece full of movement, color, and vintage picnic charm.

Flying geese rows, striking variable star blocks, and layered borders create a design that feels playful and eye-catching while still remaining approachable for confident beginners. The finished 73” x 73” size makes this quilt perfect for summer decorating, porch swings, picnic days, lake house décor, or simply adding a fresh pop of color to your home.

✨This generously sized quilt kit includes approximately 14 yards of fabric for the quilt top and binding, with the Complete Kit option including approximately 19½ yards total with backing.

Backing Sold Separately

📏 Angels Neverland recommends 5 to 5½ yards of 42”–45” wide fabric for backing, depending on how much extra room you prefer for quilting and trimming. 💛

✂️ Heads up: Because your quilt is wider than standard quilting cotton, the backing will need to be pieced with at least one seam. Simply cut your backing fabric to the desired length and sew fabric widths together using ½" seam allowances.

This pattern includes flying geese units, pieced variable star blocks, and multiple borders. The design is beginner-friendly with basic quilting knowledge and a little piecing confidence.

Angels Neverland Notes 💛

One of our favorite parts of this quilt is the unexpected lemonade yellow paired with the watermelon fabrics. The bright yellow Fossil Fern fabric pulls the lemonade tones directly from the prints and gives the entire quilt a cheerful summer glow.

The Radiance blenders from Windham add beautiful texture and movement while still allowing the watermelon fabrics to remain the star of the show 🍉

Fresh Squeezed Watermelon was thoughtfully designed with generous fabric allowances to help confident beginners feel comfortable throughout the sewing process. Extra fabric may allow room for fussy cutting, trimming flexibility, and a little added peace of mind while piecing your quilt.

Because this is an original Angels Neverland design, fabric quantities were intentionally planned with a “better a little extra than not enough” mindset — especially for detailed sections like flying geese rows, borders, and variable star blocks. 🍉
