A Quick Update from the Cutting Table
This week I'm deep into a special memorial T-shirt quilt, juggling quarterly business paperwork, and celebrating my youngest son's 21st birthday.
Rather than rush a bigger tutorial or project update, I thought I'd simply share a little progress from the cutting table.
This quilt is finally starting to come together, and I'm excited to share more once it's quilted.

And Now...The Finished Quilt 💙
When I originally shared this quilt, the top was still coming together on The Cutting Table. I promised I'd share more once it was quilted—and I'm so happy that I finally can.
Once the quilt top was complete, it went to Steve and Holly at Thread Bear Quilts for the finishing touches. We chose a soft quilting design with vines, leaves, and curls that added beautiful texture without competing with Lily's T-shirts and all of the memories already woven into the quilt. Because this quilt was created as a wall hanging, they also added a hanging sleeve so it could be displayed and enjoyed in its new home.
One last detail on the back was especially important to me: a personal embroidered label created just for Lily and her family.
But the part of this project that meant the most came after the quilt was home.
Lily's dad, shared:
“It is better than I could have imagined. Each piece was so thoughtfully arranged and brought back HAPPY memories. It is beyond perfect. The thought and care you put into this showed with every stitch. I can't thank you enough.”
That word HAPPY meant so much to me.
Because from the very beginning, that was what I hoped this quilt would do—not simply preserve Lily's T-shirts, but bring back the happy memories attached to them.
That's what makes memory quilts so special. The fabric may begin as clothing, but what we're really preserving are the people, stories, and moments connected to it.
And I can't think of anything more meaningful than knowing Lily's quilt brought those happy memories home. 💙
